Sonar at Target
Asmodee will release a family-friendly version of Captain Sonar this Fall, reports Dice Tower News. Sonar will be sold exclusively at Target and “your crew size is cut down to 2, meaning a full game only needs a much more manageable 4 people to fill every spot. Half of the roles and a lot of extras steps have been removed and you just have two positions, the captain and the radio operator.”
The highly anticipated Charterstone from Stonemaier Games will still be playable after you’ve finished the 12-game campaign. According to the Stonemaier blog, a half-price recharge pack “would refresh all components that were permanently changed during the original campaign while allowing the wooden tokens and metal coins to be reused. And the game board is double-sided, so you’ll just flip your board over and play on the back side.”
Fresh off Kingdomino’s Spiel des Jahres award win, Blue Orange announced the expansion/standalone game Queendomino. From W. Eric Martin’s BGG blog: “Queendomino is a game completely independent from Kingdomino, while offering a choice of more complex challenges. Two to four players can play Queendomino independently, but also in connection with Kingdomino, allowing for games with 7×7 grids for four players, or for up to six players if you stick to 5×5 grids.”
According to the ACD Distribution blog, Ether Wars will be available this September. “In this asymmetric game, you will be the leader of your species, put in charge of a huge dice-army. You can choose between the Dracon, a strong and vicious species; the Ripper, who can build immense and powerful armies; the human, versatile and unpredictable in their movements; or the VAi, who can use powers bestowed by the power of the Ether.”
