Nothing like a record heatwave after getting sick this weekend. Ugh. Thankfully, my wife took care of me: not only did she make sure I was well-fed and medicated, she also played board games with me. We played three of my most recent purchases (Pagoda, Trains, and Escape The Curse of the Temple) and I immediately felt better. Call it chicken soup for a board gamer’s soul.

Into the Water
The newest installment in the Ticket to Ride franchise will include ships as well as trains. Ticket to Ride Rails & Sails will have “Players collect cards of various types (trains and ships) that enable them to claim railway and sea routes on a nicely illustrated double-sided board, featuring the world map on one side and the great lakes of North America on the other.”

Doomtown No More
AEG has announced the end of the expandable card game Doomtown after the release of Blood Moon Rising on October 10th. According to AEG, “We will continue to release some story content for the website as well as to support organized play right through until the end of the year.” The game will revert back to Pinnacle Entertainment Group, which does not have plans to continue Doomtown.

Pre-Ordered Dinosaurs
The Great Dinosaur Rush can now be pre-ordered from Ape Games. “Players take the roles of paleontologists in the late 1800’s, competing to find the most lucrative dig sites, find the best bones and build the most unique dinosaurs for the world’s most prestigious museums.”
