I didn’t get to play as many games as I wanted to last month, so I’m a quest to play and blog about board games every day this month

CMON Acquires Night of the Living Dead
The undead are rising once again, thanks to a new partnership between CMON and Living Dead Media. CMON will “create branded board games and associated play accessories based on [George] Romero’s original iconic movie. These new games are officially approved by Image Ten, the original production company and custodians of George A. Romero’s iconic film, making them the definitive tabletop products based on the horror classic.”

Key Forge Mistake
Looks like somebody forgot to check their work. Fantasy Flight Games announced that some Key Forge decks were, um, unfortunately named. “Archon names in KeyForge are procedurally generated by an algorithm that pulls from a list that includes tens of thousands of words. … Regrettably, some of the words that were included in the pool created the potential for defective Archon Decks with an unfortunate pairing of words.”

Race for New Frontiers
According to the ACD Distribution blog, New Frontiers, the Race for the Galaxy board game, will hit retail shelves this month. “Players create their own galactic empire by conquering wolds, developing new technologies and producing trade goods to stay one step ahead of the competition. Each game can have different goals, so no two games will be alike.”

Upcoming Iello Releases
W. Eric Martin previewed a few of IELLO’s 2019 releases, including Little Town Builders, Legendary Forests, and Bunny Kingdom: Cloud Kingdom, which is an expansion “includes new cards, new types of resources, a set of playing pieces that allow five bunnies to play in the same game, a larger type of building that increases your influence in that area by a factor of five, and a new game board to the world of Bunny Kingdom that allows you to link fiefs in the sky with those on land.”

Fine Sand
Dice Tower News reports that Friedman Freese’s Fable system returns with Fine Sand, a deck construction game. “Even tried-and-true concepts like “trashing” cards have been twisted a bit, since constructing cards already removes them from the deck, trashing instead gives the card to the player on your left – gumming up their system.”

The Quest for El Dorado Expansion
Reiner Knizia’s deck-building race game is getting its first expansion. According to ICv2.com, Heroes & Hexes adds “special ‘demon spaces’ that inflict curses on those who land there. To help them along the way, players can also hire heroes to join their expeditions.” There are also new terrain tiles, map layouts, expedition cards. It’s due out January 1st.

Numero Uno
From Purple Pawn comes news of the latest entries into the National Toy Hall of Fame. “Uno was invented in 1971 by an Ohio father as a variation on Crazy Eights to play with his family. He financed the initial print run of 5,000 games himself but later sold the rights to International Games, which itself was acquired by Mattel in 1992.”
