Legendary
Fantasy Flight Games announced the upcoming release of Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game Core Set. Originally a collectible card game from AEG, the new version will be a living card game in which “players take on the role of one of the seven Great Clans of Rokugan, vying for military and political control of the land while maintaining Rokugan society’s strict code of honor.” A pre-release will happen at Gen Con.

Dead of Winter Comic Book
One of my favorite zombie games is becoming a comic book. According to Plaid Hat Games, the Dead of Winter comic will be a “hilarious mix of The Walking Dead and Airbud (no, really)” and “draws from the incredibly fun and diverse sandbox of characters from the hit board games, starring fan-favorite canine, Sparky the Stunt Dog.” Available May 31 from Oni Press, the comic book promises it will make readers “fall in love with Sparky all over again as he becomes a zombie murdering machine while keeping precious morale high.”

Tricks and Mercenaries
Expected during the third quarter of this year, the Tricks and Mercenaries army expansion for Kharnage will give players “clever new ways to gain the upper hand for whoever gets to them first. And alongside the tricks and mercenaries, you’ll find new units to add to your Core Set armies, including Dwarves, Humans, Goblins, and Orcs.”

Caverna: Cave vs Cave
Mayfair Games announced Caverna: Cave vs Cave, a two-player Caverna game from Uwe Rosenberg, will be available late June/July. “The nearby tribe is doing better than you and this cannot stand. Carve your way deeper into the mountain and create a cozy cave. Gather grain, flax, and building materials. Mine for precious metals and become wealthier than you, or your rivals, ever dreamed.”

New Edition of Bio: Genesis
According to ICv2.com, Sierra Madre Games is producing a new edition of Bios: Genesis out this October. “The new edition will feature upgraded artwork showing more biological details, improved graphic design, and an updated rulebook. Due to the extensive component changes, the new edition will not be compatible with the original version, but Sierra Madre is offering an upgrade pack for owners of the first edition.” The new edition will also be “designed to link up with two future Ekland projects Bios: Megafauna, scheduled for later this year, and Bios: Origins, which is planned for 2018.”

Gen Con Expanding
Gen Con is expanding onto the field level of Lucas Oil Stadium. According to a recent media release, “As part of this new space agreement, Gen Con’s already large games library space will relocate from the Indiana Convention Center, expanding further in its new location on the LOS field.”

Shelf of Shame
Brian at pubmeeple.com offers his take on his “shelf of shame”: “So for my purposes, I’ll treat the term more like, ‘It’s a shame that game hasn’t hit the table yet,’ instead of ‘I’m ashamed that this game is still on my shelf.’”

    Ruel,

I’ll be enjoying the events at Labyrinth Games here in Washington D.C.! Last week, the fine folks at Labyrinth hosted a Game Night at the Goethe-Institut and more than 30 folks came out for wine, snacks, and of course, some fine games. During the night, I had a chance to play and teach Dominion; Bohanza, and 7 Wonders. A great night had by all.

    Cheers,
    joe

That is awesome, Joe! Wine, snacks, and games sounds right up my alley. Have a great Tabletop Day and hope to hear from you soon!
