I have no idea how June crept up on us so quickly. I was just reviewing my games played during May when I realized we were almost halfway through 2016. Yikes.

Costa Rica
Mayfair announced its game Costa Rica, in which players will “race to catalog as many of the rainforest animals as they can while also trying to view each of the animals being researched.” Expect it to hit the shelves on July 21st.

Ghostbusting
According to W. Eric Martin at boardgamegeek.com, Ghostbusters: Protect the Barrier Game is a re-branding of Brian Yu’s Ghost Fightin’ Treasure Hunters. It’s not available yet, but it is listed on Target’s website.

SeaFall Preview
Here’s a spoiler-free collection of designer notes from SeaFall: A Legacy Game. According to designer Rob Daviau, “SeaFall is a game about timing and pacing. What you do on a turn is fairly straightforward – select one of the four guilds and do two of their three actions.”

Lessons Learned
Mark Rosewater, head designer of Magic: The Gathering, discusses his 20 years in the business and offers 20 lessons learned during that time.

Copyright Ruling
The Game Lawyer reports that a court has found no copyright infringement in the two-year-old case between the creators of Bang! the card game and Legends of The Three Kingdoms, which was claimed to be a clone of Bang! The court concluded that “The undisputed summary judgment evidence shows that Bang!’s characters, roles, and interactions are not substantially similar to those in LOTK. The aspects of the roles, characters, and interactions that are similar are not expressive, and aspects that are expressive are not substantially similar. ZiKo and Yoka [LOTK distributor and publisher, respectively] are entitled to summary judgment of noninfringement.”

Month in Review
Asmodee’s month of May included new releases Histrio and Storyline: Fairy Tales and the T.I.M.E. Stories expansion, Under the Mask, while announced games were the Cash ‘N Guns expansion Team Spirit and the Shakespeare expansion Backstage.
