Thanks to my gaming buddy Nathan for reminding me that games from way before the current Golden Age of Gaming can be a lot of fun; he got the better of me in our matches of backgammon and mahjong, but I’m ready to play again.

Rise of the Empire
The first expansion for Star Wars: Rebellion will be released in the third quarter of this year, according to Fantasy Flight Games. “Inspired largely by the characters and events of Rogue One, Rise of the Empire introduces a plethora of new heroes, villains, starships, troopers, and vehicles from that film, alongside other characters, ships, and events from Star Wars: Rebels and the classic trilogy, plus new missions that add more drama and intrigue to your games.”

Five for Five Tribes
Days of Wonder announced Whims of the Sultan, a fifth-player expansion for Five Tribes. It will be out in Europe in June and North America in August, at Gen Con. It contains can be played with the base game or with The Artisans of Naqala expansion and it “contains all the components needed to play five-player games and introduces new Fabulous Cities tiles. Visiting these cities will give players opportunities to win glory as they fulfill excessive requests from the Sultan by completing Whim of the Sultan cards.”

Between Two Cities: Capitals
This July the Between Two Cities expansion, Capitals, will be available. According to Stonemaier Games, “expands the base game by adding several new challenges: landscapes, districts, and civic building tiles. This is not a stand-alone expansion; you’ll need the original Between Two Cities game to play it.”

Legendary: X-Men
The latest Legendary expansion will be its largest, reports Dice Tower News. “With almost 400 cards, Legendary: X-Men brings a plethora of new mechanisms and characters to the table. New Heroic Bystanders will join the team after being rescued. New Schemes, Heroes and Masterminds, and even an Epic Mastermind come straight from the comic.” It is out next month.

Cartagena Returns
Rio Grande Games is publishing a second edition of Cartagena, according to ICv2.com. It will include “the original version of the game, as well as the components required to play the 2006 Cartagena 2: The Pirate’s Nest expansion, in which the pirates must cross Tortuga after they escape to the sloop. In addition, the game features eight double-sided boards that increase play variability and allow players to customize the length of the game.”

Dungeons & Deckbuilding
According to Dice Tower News, Catalyst Game Labs is currently developing Dragonfire, a Dungeons & Dragons deckbuilding game. “The game will have three to six players selecting their race and traditional dungeon crawling role to form an adventuring party. Form a part of rogue elves, dwarf wizards and half-orc-fighter then equip your characters with spells, weapons and magic items.”

More T.I.M.E. Stories
Lumen Fidei is the fifth expansion for T.I.M.E. Stories from Asmodee. It can be pre-ordered now and it will have players sent to “15th century Spain, near the en`d of the centuries-long Reconquista wars between Christians and Moors … to join Michel d’Ailly, the Legate of Pope Martin V, and attend a secret meeting of the Christian militant orders …[and find a]stone and bring it back to the T.I.M.E Agency before anyone else is able to seize it.”
