Legendary news from Fantasy Flight
Highly anticipated – or desired – FFG announced that the Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game will release at GenCon 2017.  Formerly a collectible card game property, FFG will go the route of its popular living card game format.  Be forewarned, however.  In a slightly different approach, the publisher reports you will need three copies of the core set for a complete playset of cards.

What will you choose?
Studio 9 Games will release its successfully funded The Midnight Legion: The World Reborn this July.  The color illustrated game book is a unique choose-your-own-adventure style design with character control more akin to role playing.  It is the second entry of a trilogy that began with Operation Deep Sleep.

Virtuosity
Another August release, Devious Weasel Games offers Bemused.  The interesting sounding title pits players as muses, supernatural entities as virtuosos in various art forms seeking to plant doubts in the minds of other artists!

Piratical Invasion
Steve Jackson Games announced it has licensed to bring Pegasus Spiele’s award-winning Port Royal to U.S. shelves this August.  The push-your-luck game of pirate plunder has been popular in Europe since first published in 2014.

Big Business
Asmodee parent company Eurazeo posted their fiscal year 2016 report. I confess to not understanding it all, but the relevant part to us is that their board games endeavors through Asmodee, Fantasy Flight, Days of Wonder, Z-Man Games and a host of others increased by nearly 40% in revenue.  Thanks in large part to “continued robust organic growth and an ongoing international acquisitions policy.” (emphasis mine)

I have lots of kids. Board games help me connect with them, while still retaining my sanity...relatively speaking.
