Gen Con 2017: Head of Mousehold

0

What do we want? Cheese!

When do we want it? After the mousetrap is sprung, of course!

Head of Mousehold is a game about collecting cheese, because you are mice and that’s what you do. Unfortunately, the only cheese to be found is in those pesky mousetraps.

So, the only way to get the cheese is to be the second mouse to the trap, after the first mouse has triggered it and met an unfortunate fate. Of course, it’s not so easy. You’ve got mice of different colors, which you’ve got to send out on missions to specific traps without knowing what mice the other players are sending. The colors determine which order your mice arrive at the trap, which don’t get revealed until everything’s been played for the round. Play your mice too slow, and they won’t get anything. Too fast, and they get, um, “trapped.”

And there’s another twist – some of the mice are screamers, which means if they get hit in the trap, they scream and draw the attention of the local cat, and the second mouse also gets an untimely doom, leaving the cheese for the third mouse.

As if that wasn’t enough, a card is drawn each round that adds a special rule that must be followed, which might change up the order of mice, or how cards are played. Watch out!
