USAopoly will release Fantastic Beasts: Perilous Pursuit in August. The dice game based on J.K. Rowling’s novels tasks players as Newt, Tina, Jacob and Queenie in a frantic adventure to round up escaped beasts in New York City and return them to Newt’s suitcase.
Wizkids announced a new release for October…Marvel Strike Teams. The one vs. team strategy “overlord” style game utilizes the company’s HeroClix combat dial miniatures as one villain player takes on all hero comers. Concurrent with the base game, the expansion Avengers Initiative will also release adding more of the iconic team members.
Pandasaurus Games announced that Spiel des Jahres nominee The Mind will be released to Target stores nationwide in August with all new artwork from Kwanchai Moriya.
Fluxx’s Final Frontier?
Probably not, but Looney Labs will finally release a version of Fluxx ported to a log-awaited IP – Star Trek. There will be two versions, actually. The Original Series and The Next Generation, along with a third smaller release, The Bridge Expansion, so that you can combine the two. You know, just in case you can’t decide between Kirk or Picard.
Oceans 1 to 6 (players)
Next month Van Ryder Games will release their successful Kickstarter The Big Score to gaming stores. The card drafting and management design tasks players as crime bosses recruiting crooks and pulling off small heists to prepare for the bit caper! It’s extremely lucrative work…if you don’t get caught.
A game of (Dice) Thrones
Roxley Games’ Dice Throne Season Two will hit shelves in October after its recent Kickstarter run. The new material to the dice chucking combat tilt described as King of Tokyo meets Magic: The Gathering will include the heroes Gunslinger vs. Samurai and Tactician vs. Huntress.
Do you seek doom?
Slated for August release, Ninja Division and Games Workshop announced Doomseeker. The card game set in the Warhammer universe pits players against each other as dishonored dwarves who must slay monsters to regain their name – even if it means dying!
All’s fair in politics
Coming over from BRIGHT of Sweden to U.S. stores this month is the Mayor of Evercent Springs. Only the key to the city doesn’t come from an orderly election, but rather bribes, deals, luck and eliminating your opponents.
March of the penguins
Brain Games Publishing will release another penguin-themed game next month (previously published the dexterity game Ice Cool). Pyramid of the Pengqueen is a one (the mummy) versus all (the adventurers) moving through the pyramid in search of treasure via hidden movement and a magnetic board.
Step right up
Next month Ankama Games will release Trool Park, a drafting and set collection game of building up your own theme park.
