The Game Canopy Deep Space: Live on Kickstarter! (Sponsor)
Remember all those times trying to find a bag big enough to carry the oversized and heavy games from your collection, only to become so frustrated that you ultimately left them home? Introducing our newest member of the Game Canopy System – The Deep Space! Now you can carry all those Big Box games and anniversary editions to your game nights. We designed this bag with enough space to pack an entire week’s worth of games so you don’t have to play Rock Paper Wizard to decide which games have to be left behind. The first. The best. The Game Canopy System.

Pandemic: Rapid Response
Z-Man Games announced its latest entry in the Pandemic franchise, Pandemic: Rapid Response, will be available June 23rd as a Target exclusive. This latest spinoff is “played entirely in real time, it offers a whole new Pandemic experience. Players must quickly and efficiently determine which cities need what types of aid, create those supplies, and fly to the disaster zone to make the drop—all before time runs out.”

Star Wars: Dark Side Rising
The Op (aka USAopoly) will be releasing Star Wars: Dark Side Rising later this year. The press release makes the game seem like a re-skin of the company’s Thanos Rising game and its cooperative play via dice and cards. It will be available only in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. “[P]layers must work together in this light strategy tabletop game to recruit rebels and prevent the construction of the ultimate weapon, the original Death Star.”

From Bezier Games comes Silver, a “unique card game piloting a whole new series. … In Silver, your village is overrun by savage werewolves and it is up to you to deter as many as fast as you can.” Silver will debut at Gen Con, then the second game of the series, Silver Bullet, will be released at Essen Spiel.

Ecos: First Continent
Designer John D. Clair’s next game, Ecos: First Continent, will hit the shelves this October, according to the AEG website. “Game play in Ecos is simultaneous and caters to 2-6 players.  Each round one player will reveal Element tokens from the Element Bag, giving all players the opportunity to complete a card from their tableau and shape the continent to their own purpose. Elements that cannot be used can be converted into Energy cubes or additional cards in hand or added to your tableau, to give you greater options as the game evolves.”

The Rival Networks
Formal Ferret Games announced plans to release a two-player version of The Networks. Designer Gil Hova wrote that “What excites me about The Rival Networks is its potential to introduce the family of Networks games to people who may be intimidated by the base game’s complexity. … The Rival Networks is much easier to teach and play, and will have a lower price. This will make it attractive to folks outside the board game hobby.”

Tiny Towns Designer Diary
Over on BGG, Peter McPherson writes about the development of Tiny Towns. “A funny thing happened when I played Tiny Towns 25 times at the convention: I got tired of it. The games felt too similar, and the building variety was too low. My solution was to add monuments: buildings that only one player has access to that change the way they score or grant an ability when constructed. … They added a small personal goal and made each game feel a bit more distinct.”
