The Village Square: November 2, 2017

A firefight…
Privateer Press announces the release of their anticipated Company of Iron. The new tabletop miniatures skirmish game is based on their evergreen Warmachine & Hordes, even using many of the same models, but with streamlined rules and smaller unit focus to build narrative, enhance action and create accessibility to new tabletop minis war gamers. The starter box will contain 21 miniatures and all necessary cards, markers, tokens, dice and even a ruler.

A new voyage…
Z-Man Games will release an expansion to The Voyages of Marco Polo in early 2018. Agents of Venice adds two new modules (Venice and Companions) adding new strategies, plus more of the original.

An update…
Looney Labs’ updated 2003 Mensa Select Award recipient Zendo is now available. The inductive logic puzzle game tasks players with guessing how to build a structure with their pieces based on a moderator’s example clues.

A colony…
Featured at Essen and releasing December 17, Aporta Games announced Santa Maria. The Euro game of colonial development includes dice-drafting, resource management and Tetris-style puzzle building.

A duel…
Galakta Games will release Wanted: Rich or Dead next month. The dungeon crawling style Western card game sends outlaw cowboys exploring and rifling through an Old West town in search of money – and a little gunfighting.

A nightmare…
In a special Halloween announcement, Renegade Game Studios will release Lucidity: Six-Sided Nightmares next quarter. You may not want this sleep, though. If you push your luck too much in this dice game you become a nightmare, haunting the other dreamers!

An awakening…
Rather Dashing Games is teasing a Spring 2018 release Wakening Lair. The cooperative RPG-like dungeon crawl sends players exploring, fighting monsters and gathering treasure.

A new path…
Bellwether Games, publishers of titles like Coldwater Crown and Antidote, announced they will be venturing into digital gaming. They have some limited experience with a companion app to Antidote. It appears their first foray into these new waters will be Coldwater Crown Fishing, but details are scant as of now.
