Here at iSlaytheDragon.com, we like to do 2 things – play boardgames, and of course slay dragons. The two activities are not mutually exclusive.
However, much like the titular Dragon, board games are best taken on, not alone, but with friends. Allies. Comrades. Or at least, someone else to take the hits while you sneak around behind and finish off the monster.
“What the heck is this guy talking about?” you’re probably asking yourself right now. Well, I’ll tell you just exactly what I’m talking about: the iSlaytheDragon family is growing. You might even say, Doubling.
Yes, that’s right. In the spirit of collaboration, two-heads-are-better-than-one, etc. etc. etc., and much discussion and even a so-called “business meeting” (note: neither one of us actually called it that), I’m pleased to announce that my Nemesis, @FarmerLenny (aka “The Other Jon“), is joining the iSlaytheDragon team! In a sense, he is creating the iSlaytheDragon team, as without him it’s just singular, just me, and that’s not really a team.
Wait! you say. Wait just a hot second! What does this mean for me?
Well, I’ll tell you just exactly what this means for you.
1. Bigger Dragons
With another writer, this means that posts – be it reviews, analysis-es, topical discussions, or random survey questions – will be more frequent. More posts = more great content for you to enjoy and share with your friends.
2. Better Dragons
Everyone is different. We all see the world differently and interpret things in different ways. The same is true for board games. With both of us reviewing games, you’ll get multiple perspectives, giving you a better idea of how you’ll like any particular game. We’ll also get to share multiple opinions, instead of just mine, on topics for discussion, or major events that happen in the boardgaming world.
3. Awesomer Dragons.
Something you should know, is that myself and the Other Jon are Nemesi. Yes, I just made up two words for this one numbered list item. Being Nemesises, we get to share all the glorious fun that comes from that – delightful banter, taunting, pointless competition, and teasery. It means things around here will just be a lot more fun, for you, for me, for everybody.
4. More Dragons
Someone once said that when two people work together, you more than double the output of either of those people working by themselves. If no one actually said that, well, then I said it right now. There are a lot of things I’ve been meaning to tackle, and those things are a lot more likely to happen with a collaborator than when it’s just me. This includes updates to the site to improve navigation and pretty-ness, video reviews, giveaways, and more.
5. Deadlier Slaying
When myself and FarmerLenny get together on a project, great things happen. Things that certain Contest Judges might not recognize. But that only works out in your favor. These projects will soon be available for your access right here on iSlaytheDragon.
Most specifically, we recently designed a Ticket to Ride map for the recent Ticket to Ride Map Design Contest held by Days of Wonder. Unfortunately for us, they did not select our submission for prototyping, which is also unfortunate for them. However, this is quite fortunate for you, as we will be finalizing our design anyways, and posting the new map design, the rules, and the destination tickets, all for free for you to download, print, and play! Good stuff. More details to come.
There’s a lot more to come, a lot of changes to happen, and a lot of awesome to divvy out. You soon will see. Wait for it…
In the meantime, please welcome @FarmerLenny to iSlaytheDragon.
