Special News Bulletin: The 2012 Jack Vasel Memorial Auction

I received this press release from Tom Vasel of The Dice Tower this morning, announcing the 2012 Jack Vasel Memorial Auction. The details are as follows:

Press Release:
November 1, 2012

The Jack Vasel Memorial Fund is proud to announce our third annual auction!

The auction will run from November 1, 2012 (12:01 EST) to November 18, 2012 (11:59 EST).

What is the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund?

One tragic event and two acts of generosity brought the BGG community together: the result was the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund. In January 2011, Cate Pfeifer (Cate108) posted an auction for Tom Vasel and his family to help with the unfortunate loss of his son, Jack. The generosity of the BGG community was amazing. Tom was touched and wanted to pay the kindness forward so he created the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund. He used some of the money that BGGers donated and spent to build this fund. The fund is a not-for-profit with a simple goal: raising and distributing funds to help gamers in their hour of need.

We would like to encourage gamers of all types to both donate items to the auction and bid generously on those items that are posted.  All proceeds go directly to the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund.  You can find the rest of the information at the link above, or more about the Fund at

I would encourage you to participate in whatever way you are able, either through donations or bids. And if anyone has been helped by the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund, feel free to share a story in the comments!

I'll try anything once, but my favorite games are generally middleweight Euros.
