Not gaming-related, but this quote from the late Dr. Maya Angelou sums up my love for libraries. Actually, these days some libraries are hip to the tabletop scene.

Smash Up Expansion
The latest Smash Up expansion, What Were We Thinking?, is out next month. “This set brings you Explorers, Grannies, Rock Stars and Teddy Bears! These factions bring a mix of strategies from classic cards to base control.”

Iello Releases
The Cthulhu Monster Pack for King of Tokyo and King of New York, The Legend of the Wendigo, and Pyramids all hit stores February 16th while Arena: For The Gods, Mountains of Madness, Sticky Chameleons, and The Legend of the Cherry Tree That Blossomed Every Ten Years are all due later this year.

Fantasy Flight Games announced Allies of Necessity, “the first Force Pack in the Alliances cycle for Star Wars™: The Card Game.” Characters from Rogue One, Star Wars Rebels, and the Darth Vader comics are featured and this first Force Pack includes Doctor Aphra, Director Krennic, Captain Cassian Andor, and Jyn Erso. It’s due in the second quarter of this year.

Digital News
David Neumann wrote about upcoming digital titles, including the Talisman expansion The Firelands, Onirim, Vampire, and Mage. Also, White Wizard Games is bringing Epic Card Game to digital via Kickstarter.

Plan B
Pandemic designer Matt Leacock has joined Plan B Games’ collaborators.

Chess Protest
Chinese chess grandmaster, Hou “The Queen of Chess” Yifan abruptly quit her final match of the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival to protest against continually being matched up versus other women.

First chess, then Go. Now, computers are close to cracking the game of poker, after beating poker players at No Limit Hold Em.
