I played The Downfall of Pompeii the other night and it was appropriate, given the recent weather. Nothing says it’s hot outside like throwing your opponent’s pieces into a soon-to-erupt volcano.

Tasty Previews
A few of the upcoming titles from Tasty Minstrel Games, courtesy of gameosity.com: first, TMG is bringing Hisashi Hayashi’s Yokohama to the U.S. According to TMG, Yokohama will feature “2-4 people in competition to become the greatest merchant during the Meiji period.” Next, Guilds of London is slated for an August release, with a limited amount for sale at Origins. Finally, the first big-box Orleans expansion, Orleans: Invasion, has been announced. Itwill be compatible with both the standard and deluxe versions of the base game.

Slingers
As reported by icv2.com, Two card games from Greenbrier Games will be on shelves this September: Grimslingers and Grimslingers Duels. The base game, Grimslingers, will be for 2-6 players while the micro-game Grimslingers Duels will be an “introduction to the game and has everything needed for two players to square off in a one-on-one fight, taking up to 20 minutes.”

The Birds
Breaking Games has released 4 the Birds, an “abstract ‘gateway’ game that’s great for kids’ spatial and numerical skills and even better for adults who are out of practice.”

New Dawn
The Eclipse: New Dawn for the Galaxy iOS app has hit the App Store. According to Asmodee, the app of the 4x board game “takes everything you love about the epic space opera and turns it into an interactive digital experience.”

Giants and Thunder
WizKids announced two new Dungeons and Dragons products. Storm King’s Thunder is the fifth set in the Icons of the Realms line and will be out this August, while Assault of the Giants is a new board game scheduled for Spring 2017.

Calliope Games
Three new Calliope games are out this August, according to ACD Distribution: Running with the Bulls, Menu Masters, and Hive Mind.

Revolting Machines
The fourth book in the The End of the World roleplaying game, Revolt of the Machines, is due in the third quarter this year, according to Fantasy Flight Games. Revolt of the Machines “gives you the incredible opportunity to play as yourself, in your own hometown, as the apocalypse erupts all around you.”

Final Touch
Asmodee announced Final Touch, a “card-based game of forged masterpieces and artistic sabotage.” It will be available in the third quarter of this year.

Crooked Chess
The fallout from the Panama Papers has made its way into the gaming world, as corruption is alleged in the World Chess Federation.
