I’ve got Mechs Vs Minions arriving and my fantasy basketball draft this weekend. Yes, it’s safe to say that your friendly neighborhood board game news guy will be a happy camper.

Steal This Game
There were several reports about LudiCreations being robbed at SPIEL. Read W. Eric Martin’s blog or go directly to the Kickstarter for the game inspired by the incident, Steal This Game.

Dice and Orcs
From the ACD Distribution comes news of two titles from Peterson: Dicenstein and Orcs Must Die!: The Boardgame: The Order. In Dicenstein “you are a mad doctor, collecting and stitching together body parts to build monsters. … Each six sided monster die has faces showing head, body, claw or foot. When rolling your monster, you physically place the dice together to create your current monster.” In Orcs Must Die! The Boardgame: The Order you must “preserve your stronghold sieged by orcs. … It includes scores of great plastic figures including your favorite heroes, plus hordes of orcs, crossbow orcs, kobolds, trolls, ogres, and more. Build a fortress, then watch swarms of baddies plunge through your defenses.”

Games on the Left
This was an interesting look at leftist games throughout history. From truth-out.org: “It might be hard to believe, but infamous Monopoly, the game of ripping off your friends and getting angry with your family during the holidays, has its roots in a movement for economic change.”
